Generic ERPs do not know what a feeder is
A panel is a tree - panel, feeder, compartment, component - and a quote is a costed walk of that tree. Bolt that onto a general ERP and the estimator ends up back in a spreadsheet, which is where the margin gets lost.
The same panel gets quoted from scratch every time
Most manufacturers have built the thing before. Without a library the knowledge sits with whoever quoted it last, and the second quote takes as long as the first.
Design and costing drift apart
When the drawing lives in one tool and the BOM in another, the two disagree by the time the job reaches the shop floor. In PanelX the layout generates the BOM, so they cannot.

How it is built
Our own product, so it is also the clearest example of how we build multi-tenant SaaS.
Schema-per-tenant isolation
django-tenants on PostgreSQL, a schema per customer. Chosen so one manufacturer’s rate list can never be reached from another’s session, and so a restore is one tenant rather than the estate.
Django authoritative, React presentational
Inertia.js, so pages render server-side and post through the same layer. No second API to keep in step with the first, and no business rules duplicated in the browser.
Documents as a first-class output
Quotations, BOMs and commercial offers render to PDF and merge server-side. A manufacturer’s deliverable is a document, so it is built and versioned like one.
Background work, separated
Celery with a dedicated events queue, so tenant provisioning and long exports never block a request someone is waiting on.
